Cam Newton Heads To New York As Heisman Betting Favorite

Can Newton Heisman Favorite

Cam Newton has had to deal with a ton of pressure over the past month regarding his eligibility and the Auburn Tigers undefeated season. Today, Newton heads to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony as the betting favorite to win the award.

The debate over whether or not Newton should win the award has been ongoing the entire week since the regular season and conference championship games have been completed. There are some voters who acknowledged leaving Newton off their ballot.

The snubs, however, made little difference to odds makers that have made Newton the betting favorite at 1/3. Those odds mean that a gambler would have to wager $3 for every $1 they wanted to win should Newton become the next Heisman winner.

LaMichael James and his Oregon Ducks will be meeting Newton and the Tigers in the national championship game. James is the second choice of bettors at 3/2. If not for Newton’s extraordinary season, James would likely be the front-runner for the Heisman.

Andrew Luck had himself a solid season, and probably did enough to earn him the honor of being the number one pick in the draft next year. Luck, however, is considered only the third choice to win the Heisman, with odds of 7/4.

Kellen Moore, the outstanding quarterback from Boise State will be i attendance, and has odds of 5/1. The other finalist attending will be Justin Blackmon, but the receiver is the final choice at 50/1.
