New Poker League Being Formed By Annie Duke

Annie Duke and her company, Federated Sports & Gaming, are starting a new poker league for the best players in the world.

Annie Duke has been one of the most aggressive professional poker players when it comes to lobbying Congress to change the online poker laws in the US. Now Duke will be sinking her teeth into something much larger.

Duke has announced that her company, Federated Sports and Gaming, and the Palms Casino Resort have entered into a partnership to start a new poker league. According to reports, the league will be run similar to how the PGA does business.

Jeffrey Pollack,  the former Commissioner of the World Series of Poker, is the chairman of Duke’s company, and will play a large role in the new league. Pollack’s main duties will center around the business side of the new venture.

To start, there will be four regular season events, and then a league championship event. All of these events will be held at the Palms, and will be televised, although it is not yet known who will have the broadcast rights.

The league, unlike regular tournaments held around the world each week, will only be available to the best players. There will be criteria that a player must meet to be able to compete in the league.

Players competing in the bigger, more established events, will have an inside track on joining the new league. Duke also believes that a large amount of promoting must be done for the league to succeed.
